Positioning a Patient With Support in a Prone Position

  • Gather the supplies

  • Explain the procedure to the patient

  • Place a pillow under the patient below the level of his/her diaphragm

  • Place a pillow under the patient's shins just high enough to keep his/her toes from touching the bed or move the patient down in bed so his/her feet fall naturally over the edge of the mattress
